Get to Know Perspectives
Types of Perspectives
Q: What is the difference between Perspectives and Narratives?
A: Perspectives are shortened or even summarized Narratives. Perspectives are more of a statement, whereas Narratives can turn into a short story or memoir about someone's life.
Guidelines
Q: Are there guidelines for what is considered a "Perspective"?
A: Perspectives are up to the interpretation of the author. It can be a simple statement about themselves, how they view the world, how they've been dealing with a particular situation, anything! However, Perspectives does ask authors to be mindful when writing sensitive content. We encourage authors to include content as they see fit, even if it is sensitive, although a trigger warning may be added or the Perspective may not be posted at all.
The future
Q: How can I expect Perspectives to develop in the future?
A: Over time, the website will develop into a space where individuals can post Perspectives on their own, without submitting them via email or using The Box. Also, more people will be reached through this organization, possibly even touching second and third world countries. If interest continues to grow, interviews will be conducted in these areas and Perspectives will be gathered by hand and in person, making the collection process more personal and diverse.
ThE box
Q: What is "The Box"?
A: The Box is simply a box that is set up in specified locations around different communities. Near it are sticky notes and pens so that members of the community may write their perspective and place it in The Box. Collections occur periodically and the cycle continues!
